Australian Net Worth Percentile Calculators
Want to know where you stand relative to other Australians? Our Finance Scorecard produces a percentile score powered by age-specific benchmarks. This guide explains the data inputs and provides tips for modelling different scenarios.
How The Calculator Works
The percentile engine combines national HILDA survey data with age brackets so that a 32-year-old isn’t compared directly with a 62-year-old. When you update the inputs panel, the scorecard instantly recalculates your percentile and highlights the distance to the next benchmark.
- Basic inputs capture core household details: income, expenses, dependants, and your principal residence.
- Advanced inputs let you model superannuation balances, investment properties, additional debt, and insurance coverage.
- The results card shows your current percentile, the target for the top quartile, and guidance on how to close the gap.

Finance ScorecardStep-by-Step Checklist
Gather accurate inputs
- Liquid assets: cash, offsets, brokerage balances, and crypto.
- Retirement assets: superannuation, defined contribution balances, pension pots.
- Property: principal residence equity and investment properties (net of loans).
- Liabilities: mortgage balances, HECS/HELP, credit cards, personal loans, car finance.
Choose the right benchmark
- Age-based percentiles (recommended for most households).
- Whole-population percentile if you want a broader comparison (e.g. national median).
- Scenario analysis to see how extra savings or debt payoff shift your percentile.
Plug data into the calculator
- Enter your numbers in the Finance Scorecard interface (inputs panel).
- Adjust the sliders or advanced fields to model future contributions or debt reduction.
- Switch between basic and advanced inputs to reflect property holdings and other assets.
Interpreting Your Percentile
Percentiles offer directional insight. Sitting at the 60th percentile means you have more wealth than roughly 60% of households in your age bracket. If you sit below the median, prioritise liquidity and debt reduction. Above the top quartile? Stress-test your plan for longevity and market downturns.
